The Department is one of the oldest in the College with enormous amount of experience in practical and theoretical pedagogical skills. The development of technical and vocational education is one of the key priorities of current educational policy in Ghana, focusing not only on second cycle but also on other types of schools and educational facilities. The Department of Technical and Vocational Education delivers highly trained, effective and highly motivated new teachers who will deliver the basic school curriculum in the country. Following the accreditation of the B.Ed. Junior High School curriculum by the national accreditation Board with its recognition as a world class teacher education curriculum, the decision was taken to support effective implementation through the development of course manuals. The course manuals provide tutors and lecturers with the materials necessary to support teaching each of the B.Ed. programmes. Currently we offer a four-year Bachelor’s degree in three distinct units which is a part of the technical and vocational education and training modules. The Units are Technical Education, Home economics and Visual Art Units
